My friend was recently in a car crash with a concussion, she says she slurs her words when talking?
Question:
Answers:
Yes, this same thing happened to my Dad after a bike accident. He couldn't hold things in short term memory for a week. It gradually got better but it took a while.
That said, though, 5 days with slurred speach seems a little dramatic. If she hasn't told her doctor she needs to for sure. Why are you concerned that she might be lying?
Is she under the treatment of a Doctor? If she isn't, get her to a Neurologist Immediately!
These types of symptoms are indicative of some type of brain injury.
she needs to get to the doctor asap. That doesn't sound good. It could be neurological.
It may not be a minor concussion. It may be a "mild" case of traumatic brain injury. She should definitely tell her doctor ALL of her symptoms right away so that the doctor can figure out what's wrong and the best way to treat it. Your friend is probably not lying.
You sure can. I had a mild concussion and did it for several months. It is like your brain got shook up. It finally will go away just support your friend and if she orders dinner twice tell her so she won't gain weight. lol
Also if she hasn't gone to a dr yet she needs to.
Yep, get her to the Doctor quickly! I had a concussion years ago, and the symptoms didn't show for a few days afterwards. At that point, the Doctor told my parents I may have a fractured skull. Luckily it was only a concusiion, but I was in the hospital for a week--and was shakey on my feet after being discharged.
Please don't doubt her word--get her to the doctor, or at least call them to see how to proceed.
