Is it bad to work out when you are sick?

Question:
I have had a cough for the past couple of days and I started coughing up some phlegm two days ago, but other than that I don't feel too bad. I worked out tonight and it was really hard and I felt pretty week, but could it help me get healthier quicker by working it out of my system, or will it make me feel worse tomorrow?

Answers:
There's never a bad time to polish the pistols. Your workout wasn't hard because of your cold, it's probably because you're not taking enough 'roids. Call my friend Barry, he'll take care of you.
You shouldn't work out when you are sick or not feeling good. Your body needs every thing it has to fight whatever is making you sick. You will get better faster and then you can get back to your workouts.
When you are sick your body needs energy to help itself get better, and this is for ANY sickness or cold or 'the cough'.
So when you workout you are taking energy away and you just really need to relax when you are even the least bit sick.
It will help you get better faster, trust me.
As long is it isn't too strenuous.
It's only bad if the sickness affects your respiratory system (kinda lol...). Your body is working on healing itself, and when you increase your oxygen demand, your lungs just can't do it (as well at least) while they're sick. Yes, circulation is good, but you felt weak because your illness hindered your ability to consume/transfer oxygen effectively. Stick to a light, light, workout if you have to and I don't think you'll feel any worse tomorrow. Your workouts will bounce back quickly when your healthy again.
