Is it bad for your arm to get really numb from sleep?

Question:
Im just wondering because I often wake up and my arm is crossed over my head and its completely numb and cold... I have no idea how long the bloods been lacking but I have to literally grab the numb arm with my other one and carefully pull it back to my body and wait for the blood flow to hit (then the pins and needles ofcourse). Does this do any permanent damage or something? and is there any tips that would reduce the occurrence of this happening?

Thanks for helping..

Answers:
If you cut off circulation long enough to your legs or arms, you could have to have it amputated.
I dont think it can be dangerous. I wake up a lot of times with the same problem, once I was completely awake yet, I grabed my arm to move it over, i accidently touched my face with it, and OH MY GOD I FREAKED out. I was scared that my arm was paralizedor something.. Maybe just change the way you lay when you fall asleep, I did that and it hasnt happend to me in like 6 months, and before it was at least 1-2 a week.
this numbness last only for few seconds, its not having danger in the sense that the blood circulation is not cutting off completly. the reason for this short effect is due to insufficient blood flow.
lol that's nothing, just today i woke up and my arm had no feeling, and i had no control over it, this lasted for about 5-7 minutes, then i eventually got control over my fingers , then hand, then the whole arm, it was weird.
