Can whiplash come back?

Question:
I got whiplast from a car accident about three years ago and it seems to have returned. About a week ago I woke up with a very sore neck and it has been hanging around since. I have suffered from bad headaches and one day I had horrible vertigo. The pain gets so bad at night I have been taking Motrin. Could this be the orginal whiplash I got coming back and should I go to the doctor and if so what kind of doctor?

Answers:
yes its possible. sometimes the pain just comes back for no reason. try going to a chiropractor, they can do things to your neck to make the pain go away, at least temporarily
Yes, I had one 20 years ago(whiplash) and then had spinal problems now.(C3 and C4 in neck) They said that the whiplash contributed to my headaches now . A thereapist or pain mangement doctor would problem prescribe therapy to strengthen the neck. I also use a Tens machine (a stimulator that makes the brain think it is doing something else with the pain). I still use the exercises (neck strengthening) but the Tens I don't use very often any more. I would talk to your doctor and have it rexrayed if you can afford to, if not ask advice on the exercises.
