Is it true that smoking pot takes away?

Question:
Pain from cancer and backpain? I am in soooo MUCH PAIN right now and i was on oxycontin for 2 years and got cut offfff cold turkey for running short 2 months in a row! I know this sounds BAD but i dont know what to do! I HURT!!

Answers:
Marijuana is not oxycotin and will not relieve back pain like yours. Marijuana helps cancer and AIDS patients because it relieves nausea and encourages an appetite. No prescription drug works better for that. Being stoned will relax you and that might help you sleep. But you need a real pain reliever for pain. On the side here - pain killers are notoriously addictive. It sounds like you were taking the oxycotin for a long long time. When was the last time you believed you were getting better. Have you tried to work through the pain a little to see if you are? Nevertheless, I wish you luck and relief.
Yes it is true. That is why there are "Dope Cafe's".
Look smoking pot is bad for you but in your case I would say it is a wise choice. Queen Victoria smoked it to cope with PMT
Smoking pot doesn;t really help you cope with the pain, it makes you trip out so you forget about the pain. Thats really about all it would do for you.
Yes, it's true!
it all depends on the person. you could try it, for a lot of people it does help. but make sure you get the good stuff.
Yes, but not the low grade kind you get with a prescription. Yes it helps pain.
I really honestly gentely recommend you stop immediately righ now at this time, because i saw a video on my health class, ppls had a disgusting lung, when they took out a lung from a death person which is who smoking, you want me to show you the video ?
pot can relax you but I don't think it is given for pain relief. It is usually given to increase the appitite when on chemotherapy. I too have daily severe back and neck pain. I take Celebrex a drug given for arthritis and it helps some. I do deep breathing excercises also. Right now I hurt so much I feel like puking. I wish you well in your quest for pain relief. Have you tried muscle relaxers like Flexeril or Baclofen these can work well too.
Yes, medicinal marijuana is a much healthier option than prescription pill pain killers like you mentioned. I wish I could do more with current legislation/laws but I try my best. Please move to Cali or Amsterdam, good luck and take care.
Hello,
What exactly is wrong with you to need this amount of pain medication? Why did you run short and your Doctor cut you off this seems very inhumane knowing you would go through withdrawl ? What state are you in I know a Doctor that has helped many people but he is in Seattle, Washington. If you dont want to keep answering questions for everyone to read my email in merlyn335@yahoo.com and we can talk more freeley Thank you cindy
well, montel williams has multiple sclerosis and he is an advocate for medicinal marijuana use...he says it's better to smoke pot, then ingest all the chemicals in the pharmaceutical drugs...i have rheumatoid arthritis, and have tried pot, on occasion, it seemed to ease my pain...whether it was from being relaxed, being stoned, or decreasing the pain, i didn't care...the pain lessened, and that's all i cared about...in SC they do pill counts do with no notice...is that why they cut you off??
It can help, but there might be another medicine that works for you. Talk to your doctor first. Oxycontin is a really hardcore addictive drug. There might be something less potent that will still help. Check the web for forums and groups for people in similar situations. It sounds like you could also use a good support system now.
