Why is there a foul odor produced when a cast or bandaid is removed?

Question:
It's disgusting to think about it but its also very natural. I just wanted to know why this happens. Even when you dress the wound up after a day or two it needs to be redressed otherwise an odor prevails. The cast is something most people have no choice over when it comes to dressing it from the inside.

Answers:
The odor is caused by bacteria. The cast produces a perfect medium for bacteria to grow, it is moist and warm. The bacteria is what causes the odor. Not realy anything you can do about it except wait until it is removed.
Sweating. Not being able to clean the area.
i believe that oder is from you, its the same as when its been a long day and you finally let your feet breath, and they stink, (its not like your feet are made to stink) is just they havent been aired out and clean recently
because its not been washed and its dirty. that is why and it will smell like that. you just have to clean it and it will be ok each time and you will just have to get over it the cast well they are on for long periods and that is why. so just bear it and it will finally get better.
