Your parents care about your health. Listen to your parents. When you are an adult, you can make all the stupid decisions you want.
Make up a meal plan and show them what you will eat to make sure you still get all of your nutrients. They can't force feed you meat.
why dont you just not eat meat, i mean they cant make you, good luck with that i couldnt do that:)
What reasons do they have for not wanting you to be vegetarian? If it's because they fear you won't get the right amount of nutrients, you need to do some research for them to show that vegetarians are just as healthier, and more often than not HEALTHIER, than people who eat meat. Show them how you can still get your daily recommendation of protein without having to eat meat.
If you can show them that you are responsible enough to find the benefits, as well as the downfalls, of being vegetarian, they might decide that you are responsible enough to make this decision on your own.
They can't force you to eat things that you don't want to. First make a list of reasons why this is a positive decision you are making for yourself. Then sit with your parents and let them know these reasons. If you give them responsible reasons for you decision they may start to see things through your eyes and begin to support you.
I may not be the best source of advice, considering I am not a vegetarian.
First, choose if you want to be a vegetarian or a vegan. There's a big difference between the two. The former doesn't eat any meat, the latter doesn't eat animal products at all.
Next, slowly try to eat less and less meat. Your parents will be accustomed to you eating less of your meat and more of your veggies. Whenever you can, like when they aren't looking, get rid of any meat they want you to eat. Hopefully, with a lot of pursuading and tearful (with puppy dog eyes) explainations of why you can't eat the cute little animals, they will start to understand your point.
Good luck convincing your parents,
Brandi
Im sorry to say this but i think being a vegetarian is a waste. I mean you not eating meat isnt going to stop everyone else form eating it especially me. (i love meat) you can become very ill also if you change your diet so i say listen to your parents and stick with the meat!!
stop eating any meat they give you. and offer to go shoping with them and ask for vegitarian foods.
do your research. to make sure you get the right nutrients wether supplemental or in the foods you eat. talk to your doctor to make sure your eatting the right things for you especially if you have a health condition. talking to your doctor with your parents may help calm their anxieties or fears they have if you become vegetarian. also their are a variety of other types of vegetarian based diets like vegan among others that allow for fish or chicken and dairy in the diet which provide important nutrition. so decide if its VEGETARIAN you really want or another kind.also it is a long term strict commitment so look at the options and decide if this is something you can commit to and stick with.
Your parents can't physically force you to eat meat (if they do, then you've got some other issues to deal with..). I'd suggest talking to them in a mature way explaining your reasons for wanting to cut meat out of your diet. Do research and let them know that you are well informed of dietary requirements and show them the different kinds of meat substitutes available. I did this with my parents and now they prefer veggie patties and soy dogs sometimes! They may be worried because they follow a traditional meat and potatoes American diet and are not familiar with vegetarianism. As long as you are armed with knowledge about your decision, they should respect you for it. Not to mention, vegetarian diets (provided they are followed correctly) are often a lot healthier than ones filled with processed and red meats! Good luck! :)
my friend eat vegetable is OK but you have to remember the body need calcium and others minerals which are not in the vegetable you need meet at lest once a week most chicken you need cheese to get calcium in your bones you need porch meet once in a wile to help your bad cholesterol so our body need a Little for everything
You need to ask yourself why you want to be a vegetarian. Do you like pepperoni? What about chicken wings? If you answer yes to those questions I recommend that you do not become a vegetarian. Because you will just end up craving such foods.
I agree with most of the answers of showing them a meal plan... how it can be healthy if you follow that meal plan.
One thing to add is that you do need alternate sources of Protein as well as some Enzymes and Amino Acids. Those are very important nutrients that normally come from meat sources, but are also available in vegetarian form. Some vegetarians lack some of these important nutrients and by not supplementing their diet with them, they can actually miss enough things from their diet that they may get sick on various levels.
One important thing to note is that the most common "non-meat" protein is soy. do your research on this, as there is a LOT of debate on the benefits and detriments of soy, and there may be aspects of your health that you need to watch out for with it.
