My jaw hurts?

Question:
A few days ago I had opened my mouth wide to yawn and after ym jaw hurt.. like it was out of place and I felt like I had to put it back haha.. Anyways, it hurts really bad right now, especially when I move it up and down. It's on the left side, around my temple/ear/where the jaw connects right by the ear.. What could be wrong with it? Any help is appreciated!

Answers:
The exact same thing happened just happened to me ! I put some ointment on where it hurt just now, and it's starting to feel better, so maybe you could try that ?
It sounds like TMJ...make an appointment to see a dentist...here's a good link...
You could have just popped it like you might do with any joint, knee, elbow, finger, etc. If it doesn't go away or getts worse in the next couple of days see the dr. and find out what's what. good luck
That must have been a good yawn. You probably partially dislocated your left temporomandibular joint (that's where the temporal bone of the head and the mandible or jaw bone articulate, or come together) and then reduced it (put it back in place). If the pain persists or gets worse or you yawn like THAT again you should probably go see your doctor. Not your dentist.
