I broke my ankle on july 1 and its in a cast why do doctors say you cannot walk on it even if it feels okay to

Question:

Answers:
Because even if it begins to feel okay, you could end up doing youself more damage, perhaps even worse than the original damage. Just continue to stay off of it until the doctor clears you to walk on it. Trust me, they go through a lot of training, they know what they are talking about.

Hope this helps. :-)
Risk of reinjury no matter how good it feels, follow doctor advice and avoid future injury, arthritis and medical costs
Because the bones need to set properly...the cast is holding everything together...if you put pressure on it, it will not heal properly and then it may have to be broken again and reset...use your crutches!
i dont know.
i'm not a doctor :]
but uhm
even if it feels okay, it probably isnt stable enough to walk on yet, & if you do you could probably reinjure it more.
Just because it feels okay to walk around on it, doesn't necessarily mean that your ankle has fixed itself yet. There are many cases of people walking around after a fall or injury of some kind and don't even know they've broken any bones. The docs would just rather be safe than sorry.
doctors just want u to play it safe and they dont want you to reinjure it...cuz that would take longer to heal and would hurt really bad...so in the meantime stay off it
think about it a miniute. the whole reason they put you in the cast was so you don't hurt it again. if you walk on it you are putting pressure on it and then it will hurt it after a while.
