Quit smoking question...?
Question:
Answers:
Its not that he is using it as an excuse to act like a jerk... he just couldn't control his moods during the quitting process.
You see, after he quits smoking, his body is starting to heal itself [heart and lungs]. During the healing process, he will feel worse for a while. It's a common thing for ex-smokers. As the body continues to clear out nicotine inside the body, it is normal for an ex-smoker to feel edgy, hungry, more tired, and more short-tempered than usual. Try to tolerate and understand but remind him once in a while to keep his feelings in check.
Don't worry, the withdrawal effects of quitting subside as time passes so he won't be a jerk forever. The first few days after quitting will be troublesome for now. After a week or a month, he'll go back to normal.
As for the chew, it will work as long as it keeps him from going back to smoking.
Oh great he's going to stop smoking and start spitting. Have you ever been around someone doing chew. Its gross. So is smoking anything legal... Anyway he's still going to be addicted to nicotine. But... at least he's trying to make a change.
My grandfather use to bite the ends off of cigars and hold them in his cheek. He died of a big old cancer tumor that developed in the same place.
Sounds to me like he is making up all kinds of excuses, but thats what addicts do. Nicotine is one of the worst and most addictive drugs on the face of the earth.
