Bump on cartilage! help!?

Question:
My daughter received a cartilage piercing at Claire's in March (yes, she's now aware she should never receive a piercing with a gun ever again), it was healing nicely until about two or three weeks ago when it started to form a red bump on the side of the piercing. She's tried putting tea tree oil on it, hydrocortisone cream, vitaman E oil, and soaking it in saltwater this past week...its not shrinking! In fact, it actually looks like its getting bigger.

Of course, she doesn't want to take the piercing out, but we're concerned it might be an infection or a keloid. Is there anyway for it to heal without removing the piercing? Or should we be taking more drastic measures?

Answers:
Sounds infected. Go to the MD and get his opinion and maybe some antibiotic. I'd keep nepsporin around too. Works wonders. We see quite a bit of this
Is the bump right on the piercing or near it?
It sounds like the keloids my aunt, who was a nurse, warned me about. One of the things she had me do when I had a piercing that wasn't healing properly was to take a broom straw, an old fashioned straw, sterilize it, and use that to replace whatever is holding the hole open. Using a broom straw allows for more air to get to it.
Also, as I am not a doctor, your really should check with one. It's possible that it is an infection and needs some professional interference with medication.
