My back and neck hurt?

It would be best to see a chiropractor. Yes, it will cost you, but how much is the pain costing you now? You may be able to stretch those muscles and allow them to self-adjust. Try positioning yourself in a corner and place your hands far apart, one on each opposing wall. Lean in slowly and allow your chest muscles (pectoral muscles) to stretch out. Do this several times a day. It may also help if you can lay on your back and have someone slowly and carefully pull your arms over your head (toward your ears) to stretch your shoulders. The point is to stretch the muscles that are painful in the opposite direction that you normally use them to "open" them up.
A massage of your back would be highly beneficial.
A chiropractor would be best, or a massage at least. You need another person to work on your back, you can't reach it yourself. I suppose you could try buying hand held massagers that reach your back, or taking a soothing hot bath. Heat pades will help too, you can get those at any drugstore.
Chiropractors aren't that expensive and you can usually get right in. Go see one. You won't regret it.
My daughter had the same problem when she was in marching band. She played a euphonium. she also played a trombone in the symphonic band. A euphonium is very heavy. She would hurt in the same place you just described. Keep taking hot showers or soak in a hot tub. Try some epson salts in the water. See if someone in your family will massage the area for you. Take ibuprofen (motrin, advil, or nuprin). Ibuprofen is a powerful antiinflammatory and it will help tremendously. Instead of laying on your back, lay on your side. If you want to go to a chiropracter go see your doctor first. They will tell you if this is a good idea or not and recommend a good one for you to go to. Unfortunately, this is one of the occupational hazards of being in the marching band, but you will have many wonderful memories to look back on.
