I get you, when I started exercising the next day I did not even wanted to go to aerobics, but I knew I had to, it was better for me. The more you do the better it would get, it's just that your body is not use to out of no where just do some really intense workouts, if you quit now, the pain will only get worse. (Belive me) :) It's just that your muscles are stretching and toning, and your body stresses, bcoz your not used to it. Think positive, get motivated, you can do this, think of all the things you been through this is nothing compared to that. If you really want it, put passion & give it your all, I know right now you feel like giving up, but hang in there and I bet you that buy next week you will feel better, the only thing I can recommend is Icy-Hot, warm paches, pain medication. Like tylenol, Ibuprphen, Advil, Aceptamenohpen, Hydrocodine. you get me. Cheer up, Andy. You will be okay. I know you will. :}
Yes. you must build a tolerance to pain/strength. Your coaches will be able to see if you have had to much. Drink lots of water/gatorade and immediately after the practice consume a light carbohydrate meal. about an hour after that have a light carb/protein mix. Before bed eat a small meal mostly protein. I like to have tuna fish and crackers with my son before bed and it is great protein source for him.
Small meals work better with digestion and the heat.

and i know volleyball and football are not the same thing...but what helps me is a hot bubble bath with sore muscles bubble bath
