I have a pain on the top of my rib cage?

Question:
i googled a diagram of the rib cage and found that the pain is on or near the xiphiod process. the pain comes and goes for a few seconds and it feels like when you have a bruise that is getting a lot of pressure and it hurts. any clues why its hurting??

Answers:
It can be so many things like a bruise, pulled muscle,
Bruised, cracked, or fractured rib,
Costochondritis (inflammation of cartilage near the breastbone),
Osteoporosis,
Pleurisy (the pain is worse when breathing deeply)
See your doctor for an xray if it doesn't get better or you have difficulty breathing.
First, take advil. It might be because you are crunched up a lot. Also because your breast is weighing you down. There are a lot of reasons, go to the doctor.
Sore to touch - muscles are a little like ropes -they have many fibers or strands that work together to get the job done. When some of the strands do not relax like they should they bulk into the middle creating the appearance of "knots". Heating the muscle and applying pressure lengthwise to the knot (once or twice at a time) will slowly get them to go away.

Most likely is muscles - massage therapist for fastest releif. Info The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies - great teaching tool.
