Anyone have experience with a detached retina?

Question:
I got a black eye from getting hit with a tennis ball 4 days ago. When the swelling went down I realized that I could barely see out of the eye. Now I find out that I have a detached retina and need surgery. This sucks... anyone have experience with this?

Answers:
No experience, but I know it is a very serious thing and needs to be dealt with quickly. As far as I know they can tack down the retina again with lasers. Best luck!
If you wear contact lenses you could end up with a detached retina due to the retina fusing onto the contact lens. This can occur in extreme heat so if you are wearing contact lenses keep away from fires, furnaces, hot stoves, heaters, hot steam, saunas, steam rooms, hot kitchens and don't look at a hot sun. Also don't have hot showers whilst wearing your contact lenses.

Wearing glasses is a way to avoid this contact lens hazard or danger.
