Would u go to the ER or wait it out?
Question:
Answers:
i have that same problem. better to go to the ER so you could get antibiotics ASAP. they'll take about 10 days to work, but at least the infection will be gone.
in the meantime, soak your feet in warm water 1-3 times daily for about 20 minutes each time. also, clean the infected area with peroxide and put neosporin on it every time you soak the foot.
good luck!
10points?
I've had that happen once- I ripped that sucker out myself to be honest, but if it hurts like you say it does then I don't think I would wait any longer.
I had mine cut out permanently. Love it and would do it again. I would soak it and keep putting peroxide on it. You can prick it with a needle. Yes it hurts bad . Did feel better after wards,
Dont wait. as soon as its pussing and really sensative you need to have the nail procedure done. any infection is a problem and if puss gets into your blood stream it can do a lot of damage. DONT WAIT
Try to cut a V shape with toenail clippers in the center of the toenail, so that way when it grows it won't grow outwards anymore. Try it and see if it at least relieves some pain. My friend from high school told me that is what her doctor advised and I've done it ever since. No problems my way.
If the pain is so much that it cuases you to black out when you stand, if you have long red streaks that are going up your foot, or if you are tempted to take more pain meds than you know you should...then go to the er or the urgent care center. Kow that you will have to wait as the triage on ingrown toenail is not as high as heart pain...
If you can stand to wait for morning, call the doc for an urgent fit me in todya or tommorow appointment. Also discuss ways to prevent the ingrown toenail. There is a very specific way to cut toenails and dry you rtoes after showering that will prevent most ingrowns.
if you have medical. go get it taken care of unless you really like the pain
You could try lifting the ingrown part of the toenail with something very clean, like the edge of a nail file. If it's ingrown, the corner of the nail is causing it, and needs to be "freed" from the corner of the toe. Soaking the foot, or toe, in epsom salts and very warm water will help prior to trying to lift the edge of the nail. Sounds like you're clipping the nails too short. Try cutting toenails straight across, and, if needed, wearing a shoe that's not cramping the ends of your toes.
If it is infected, I suggest you go to the ER becuase the longer you wait, the more it will get infected. I don't know how much time you have waited on this but I recommend you go to the ER stat!!
it's like this- You have a infected toenail. You think that it is nothing and do nothing to it or about it. You wait for a day. Next mroning, you see it has swollen. You think a ice pack will help it. You ice it and go to sleep. The next morning, you see pusses coming out of it and it hurts. You think you should go to the ER NOW! It took you 3 days to come up with the ER idea. In that three days, your infection has grown more and more and it needs surgery. If you hadn't waited this long, you might have not needed surgery. But now you do. You see where I am going with this?
Hope this solves your question! lol ^_^
I'm not sure how long you have had the problem but when I had that problem I soaked my foot until the skin was soft and just cut it out with some sterilized cuticle scissors. I used peroxide and Neosporin ointment afterwards. It was well before I knew it. I know how bad it hurts. Everyone is different. I felt like I could do it myself and I did.
they will remove the entire nail nail but dont worry they will used anesthesia, and you can go home after the procedure. the nail will be regrown.
Here is the way you can handle it. I am assuming we have puss coming that will help us. Put your foot in warm water with a lot of epsonsalt. The salt will help you draw the infection out. After have soaked it for 10 to 20 minutes - remove you foot from the water and press on the redden part to the toe so we can remove more puss. Now - take a tooth pick or another object that will fit under your toe nail and take a small wad of cotton and push it under the nail keep adding small wads of cotton until you have raise the nail out of the infected area. Be careful with the tooth pick - use the side of it to press the cotton under the nail and into the nail bed. Now get some topical antibiotic that has the three types of antibiotics in it and put around the infected area.
I was a medic in the service and had tons of infected ingrown toenails to work on an this was the easiest way.
Once the infection and ingrown toenail are healed, only cut your toenail flat. Always leave them with an edge that it out in front of the toenail bed. That way you will never get another infected toe
Ok what I would do is give it another say 5 minutes then if it's still the same I would check in to emergency if it's really busy then try to phone the doctor for an appointment a.s.a.p because you are in serious pain so you should get it checked out
