What can I use as a home remedy for a heating pad?

Question:
I don't have a heating pad, but it's been 2 days since i've had my wisdom teeth removed and my doctor recommended for me to switch over to heat on this day.

I've heard something about heating up rice and putting it in a towel.

Do you have any suggestions?

Answers:
Uncooked rice is a good solution. You need to put it in a cloth that will microwave. It needs to be sealed or tied in a knot...like a pillow case, for instance, to avoid making a mess. Then put it in the microwave. Since heating times vary with the amount of rice you use, start at about a minute...check it...and heat more until it is the temperature you want. It should stay warm for a good hour. Then you can reheat it.

BTW, you can use these bags for cold packs as well. Just put them in the freezer for a couple of hours.
Rice works wonders:

1.) Take a large, old sock (no holes)
2.) Fill it 3/4 of the way with white rice (obviously uncooked), and seal with a rubberband
3.) Microwave it for 10-15 seconds
4.) Apply to your mouth

This method works sooo well for a lot of people.

Hope this helps. :-)
Wet a hand towel, ring out the water, pop it in the microwave for a minute. Keep an eye on it while it's heating. If it isn't as hot as you'd like, try a few seconds longer. Try that. It's much easier than the rice.

Hope you feel better
Just use the towel (a smaller hand towel). Soak it in hot water, wring it out, and it'll work just fine.
i just waited it out myself...didnt even use the vicodin...not being a tough guy.just really didnt need nothing i was fine in three days.weird.the rice thing might work.weirder
