I sliced my leg open i put eight stiches in myself?

Question:
with a sewing needle and some white thread ive been putting peroxide on it its looking better but the peroxide does not seem too be helping with the infection or redness anymore any suggestions?

Answers:
Well, if there is an infection (redness, swelling, heat, pain, puss), it's probably from you putting stitches in yourself. Sewing needles and white thread are NOT sterile, and well, you probably gave yourself in infection.

LOL, I'm sorry, I'm a nursing student and wonder how you tolerated the pain, and wondering why the heck you would do such a thing?

If you were trying to save yourself money, I understand, but now you need to see a doctor or go to an Urgi Care or ER. If you have an infection it could go into your bloodstream and land you a couple of days in the hospital.

If the cut is bad enough, the peroxide can irritate the tissue causing it not to heal.

Please get yourself treated properly.
use any antibiotic cream should help with both infection and moisture, try to keep it bandaged and change bandage each day, wash with soap and water each day before you put cream on
my uncle did the same thing put bacterian u can get it at a drug store and put mederma and that will take the scar away
Oh, that's gonna turn out REAL BAD if you don't have that checked by a doctor. Infections spread fast and you could end up losing a big chunk of your leg. Seriously- get it looked at by a doctor ASAP. And use the sewing needle on your clothes, not your skin.
GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!!

If it is bad enough to need stitches then you need to go to the doctor! Don't do anything else until you get to the doctor!
try neosporin

oh, btw -- if you're not a licensed nurse. you shouldn't be stitching yourself up. go to the dr.'s to get it properly done. med7 handles people that don't have insurance.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW... U SHOULD C A DOCTER welll maybe u were in a place where no docters r there i pity u alot docters can help with infection an redness
wash it 2-3 times daily and use peroxide and neosporin. also be sure to change the dressings each time. use gauze or bandages. using thread was a terrible idea, but DO NOT change them. yes, they'll grow "into" the skin, but if you take them out and put new ones in again, then you can do more damage and cause more infections to your wound. if your condition doesnt improve within a week, then please please please go to the ER. this is serious.
First the disclaimer - you REALLY should have taken this to a professional and you still should do that. Something seriously can be wrong and you might loose a limb or die.

If you don't do that - here is some advise from somebody who has multiple scars from different dirt bike and street bike accidents. Some fixed at the ER and some fixed at the kitchen table. The latter is NOT recommendable.

If your wound appears to be infected there is a chance that you still have some impurities in there. Was it a clean cut? - or was it a like a broken piece of glass on a lawn? In the latter there is a risk that you have not cleared the out wound sufficient. Whatever is in there will need to come out - or if it is very small particle it needs to be 'killed' with antibiotic.

You can clean the wound to some degree from the outside and the wound will try to clean itself with generating puss to push out what ever is in there that shouldn't be there.

Do not use peroxide more than once or twice as it will damage your tissue. Put your leg in warm (almost hot) soap water (not detergent) to wash possible puss out. You might want to cut one (1) stitch to make an opening to allow the puss to drain.
Instead of using peroxide use e.g. Bayers Bactine - and use plenty.
Keep you and the leg rested and keep it up.

...and then again. If you don't see a considerable improvement within few days you REALLY need to see somebody who can check the wound and write you a prescription for some antibiotic.
Good luck.
yes i also say GO TO THE DOCTOR!
