"Electric Shock" after using computer?

Question:
There are times when I feel this sort of "electric shock" on my finger when I touch a metal. It feels like a pinch of a needle and it even has a sound. It is a bit painful.

And not only when I touch a metal. Touching a person causes me that "electric shock" also. In this case, the person I touch also feels the same thing.

It usually occurs when I am using a computer.

What it is and how can I avoid it?

Answers:
It's called static. same thing that happens when you rub a balloon too much with cloth. I get it all the time from driving (cars can generate static), walking across carpet in socks, etc. The reason that you get a shock when you touch another person is because people naturally have metals in their body (Iron, Magnesium, etc).. although some people see it as a sign when "there's a spark" between two people. ;-)

If you get it very often, it's likely that there is either very low humidity in your area, you have clothing that "shuffles" a lot and generates static, or there may be things where you live that generate static that you might not realize.

What I learned to do when I was building up a lot of static due to my carpet, I just touched grounded metal more often. If you touch grounded metal more often, there will be less static built up by the time you touch it, and it will diffuse what you have accumulated before it can build up to a "big shock". The most common grounded metal sources are metal doorways, but you can also use big metal shelves, door handles, or any other sizable metal object.
