Futon beds?
Question:
how good are they for your back/good night's sleep?
any advice appreciated. i have to make a quick decision as i move to a new flat next week.
Answers:
I wouldn't suggest replacing your bed with one, if you have to, don't get the cheapest, you want something with a VERY thick cushion. They kill your back though, very little support.
I'd go for a mattress unless your young then you can handle a futon. They do sell extra thick ones.
they are ok comfy but back ache will occur first few nights
their good of you get the 12 inch thick mattress..Otherwise don't bother!
I slept on one once - never again! Felt like I'd been wrung out through a mangle the next day. Stick to a proper comfy bed.
Ud b better off gettin a cheap bed rather than a futon bed. personally, i hate them. Im sleeping on mine now cos our bedroom is getting re-decorated and i havent had a good nite sleep yet! I would advise you stick to matresses (proper ones) and a bed. They dont last as long as matresses as well so ul end up forkin out more anyways so mite aswell invest in a good bed.
I had one,and I'd never have one again.Get a proper divan.
I have only experienced one futon bed and can honestly say that I would prefer to sleep on the floor. I found it very uncomfortable and would certainly not even consider switching to one on a permanent basis.
I've slept on one and it wasn't comfortable - very hard and lumpy. I missed the 'springy-ness' of a traditional mattress. If you need a bed which folds away, I'd try looking at 'click-clack' sofa beds (check that they are the ones which are designed for every day usage.) If not, just go for an ordinary slatted frame and foam or sprung mattress. Why not go to a bed/furniture superstore (like Ikea or others) and try lying on different types. They don't mind if you take your shoes off! Remember you spend a third of your life in a bed, and a bad back is hard to fix-take time to choose the right bed for you.
Don't do it! They are the most uncomfortable thing you can sleep on.
Hi, I haven't found sleeping full time on futons to be at all problematic. In fact I've had good experiences sleeping on my futon.
