Nerve pain?

Question:
I have a lot of sciatic nerve pain and there is really nothing I can do medically about it right now? Anyone else living with it and able to work and have a fairly normal life? I was told to have an MRI by my doctor but my insurance won't cover it and I can't afford to take anymore debt. How do you survive it?

Answers:
There are different kinds of medications you could use for nerve pain. An anti-convulsion medication called Gabapentin also works to cool nerve endings, and sometimes is quite effective in alleviating nerve pain. Unfortunately, it is a very strange drug in that some people receive little to zero relief and others receive substantial relief, it is oddly 'on and off.' Your best bet would be a narcotic pain reliever such as Vicodin or Percocet, depending on the severity of the pain. These medications more or less take the edge off instead of directly remove the pain. I myself, along with quite a few others, am able to act normal on opiates but many people aren't able to handle the euphoric effects of the opiate portion of the drug and become 'loopy.'

I hope you find a method of managing your pain, because no person should have to be tortured with pain. Not to discourage you, but I went through a ton of different meds including anti-inflammatory drugs, both steroidal and non steroidal, and narcotic painkillers until I discovered Norco, which works wonders for my knee problems. Be patient and may you find your way to a life without pain.

Try homeopathic remedies. email me if you need help.
I get massage therapy and that really helps relieve the pain. If you get massaged on a regular basis you won't be experiencing so much pain.

Take a hot bath with 2c. of dissolved Epsom salts. Soak for 30 minutes. This will help relax the muscles around the nerve and reduce the pain.

Massage an analgesic cream into the sore Areas to further help reduce pain.

I also recommend chiropractic treatment as this can help eliminate your pain.
well you have to have an mri to diagnosis it correctly and i am really surprised your insurance wont pay for it. i also have sciatica and i had those cortisone injections in my spine helped relive the pain from a 10 to about a 3 on a good day.
