I have a pain in my abdomen on the right hand side. It's just below where the rib cage ends. Rather like a side stitch but I haven't been running or anything like that. Hurts more when I poke it.
What might this be? Do I need to go and see a doctor? Hospital?

Yes, you should get some medical attention. It could just be a cramp, or it could be appendix or gall stones.
I would keep an eye on it. could it be cramps? it could be something with the digestive system too, which may pass. If the pain is severe or if it is persistant i would see a dr. the right side is the appendix side so you may want to go t the ER if the pain is servere.
