Sprained ankle?
Question:
Answers:
It should only take a few weeks for a severely sprained ankle to heal. The key is to stay off of it when possible, especially if you find yourself doing something that makes it hurt worse. Obviously, it is probably not a great idea to go hiking, running, dancing, etc. on it until it no longer causes you pain. Generally, just take it easy and wait. As far as I am aware, there is no way to really speed up the healing process...let yur body tell you what activities you can or can't do.
Hope it gets better in time for your vacation!
You've got to keep weight off it. If you are going to be on it, wrap it tightly so it doesn't bend at all.
Keep the weight off of it so it doesnt make it worse.. keep ice on it as much as possible and keep it wrapped up.. and keep it elivated that helps also... if u severely sprained it you might want to get it checked out cause you could have ruined ligaments or tendons.
Go to a Dr. if you haven't already, follow his/her instructions to the letter. Depending on how severe the sprain is, you should probably be at least somewhat mobile by that time. It is nearly four weeks from now.
I had this problem and since I couldn't get off crutches quickly enough a disease called CPRS took over my body. Trust me, you need to ice your foot in an Ace wrap for a couple more days, and if you are on crutches try using only one crutch and putting weight on the one crutch and your sprained foot to help get used to weight-baring. If your foot still isn't feeling better in a few more weeks I would suggest going to the doctor or seeing a physical therapist.
Keep it elevated and put an ice pack on it until the swelling dies down.
Above all rest it.
Get an ankle support, like tubi grip, but don't get too tight a support as that could stop your circulation and slow healing as nutrients can't get to the affected part of the ankle in your blood.
The tubi grip will help with the support of your ankle as by twisting it you will have stretched the ligaments that give your ankle support. The result is a weaker ankle until it completely heals.
