Quitting Smoking?

Question:
I am on my second day of no smoking and am using patches. can anyone tell me if it is supposed to be painful where the patch is. Yesterday i had one on my right arm and was fine. today it's on my left arm and my whole arm is sore.
Thanks for any help.

Answers:
um...my boyfriend uses them and he said sometimes they itch and are painful...and he can feel the nicotine going into his skin... i guess everyone reacts to them differently...buy keep it up.. it'll be worth it once you're smoke free
u dont need patches to quit smoking. Its only in your head that is difficult to stop.Just get it out of your life. You dont need it
Yes it is normal, just keep switching it every day, it doesn't have to be just the arms it goes on, you can put it on the legs too. Its uncomfortable because of the nicotine pumping into the bloodstream, it does ease eventually good luck!
Well done for trying! Sometimes you will get redness and itchy skin - but I would pop into a NHS Direct if it is truly painful. I have quit with NiQuitin CQ mint lozenges - which actually taste quite good - you just pop one between your gum and cheek - they come in different doses to help wean u down. I tried several times before succeeding - and say "use whatever help you need to get the job done" and don't listen to those who found it easy - they may never have been addicted themselves. Good luck.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! i'm dreading it
Well done!
Keep it up Karen :O)

Thinking of trying without the patches again.......!
hi, Ive not had pain with patches put i have had very itchiness. i keep swapping places when i put the next one on. it does sound like your having quite a bad reaction. have you tried the chewing gum, or the pretend ciggies with the nicotine filter fitted? not really a 'patch' on others the others, but still supposed to work. good luck...you can do it!
I don't know about those patches but I can honestly tell you, I was one of those who succesfully stop smoking. Keep fighting. Your real weapon is your determination and your will to stop. You are actually fighting your own self, your urge to smoke again. For the meantime, stay away from smokers. Always bring mouthwash with you, it will help. Try exercise to occupy your time.. good luck
I am in da process of quitting myself. I am on day two. I just eat those life savers mints to substitute for a cigarette. I also go to da gym to take my mind off of dem. I try to avoid hangin around people who I know smoke or anyone dat is smokin.
Hello all. i smoke 2 packs a day of unfiltered camel reds and ive been doing this routine for about 14 years. i definetly have a bad cough but its worth those nicoteine flavored sticks. when i die at least ill know i died from smoking ciggaretts and not from something random like brain trauma. smoke till ya die!
First of all I would like to say Congratulations on your first big step to quitting, Like you when I used the patch I also got an itchy and painful feeling around the area where the patch was applied right after putting it on, not in all area's just in some, But I found out by my Docotor that its perfectly normal and that some people have different reactions to certain things, the cause of the pain and itchying is because the Noticen is going into your skin isnt used to it so it will react, but if the pain and itchy goes on for more than 2 hours I suggest you see your Dr.
Good luck and god bless

Just keep imagining how better you would be without them... Plus, look up pictures of Lungs belonging to people who Smoke, that could put you off them. Try it xx
The patch should be placed on a different part of the skin each day. Perhaps you have an allergy. I think patches suck anyway.
