What causes farts to smell bad - Like REALLY bad?
Question:
BTW - he is lactose intolerant - but he doesn't eat or drink dairy.
Answers:
he may have irritable bowel syndrome or another intestinal disorder or bacterial infection.
junk food. make him eat healthy food
There are so many possibilities. Usually the primary suspect is food, but one person can eat really spicy or pungent foods and you'd never know it when they do a crop duster run in your presence, while other people eat normal food and can fell an ox at 30 paces. Could be a reaction to foods that his body can't process effectively. My dad was diabetic and had awful gas. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, or if it was the garlic and onions he ate every morning...wait a sec, I think a light just came on...
Might also be irritable bowel syndrome. As a new member of the IBS club, I started out thinking I was just lactose intolerant, but I still wasn't back to 100% after I gave up dairy. Someone clued me in that red meat is also a bad guy for IBS. Sure enough, I gave that up and haven't felt this normal in a couple of years. I don't know exactly why red meat can cause so much pain and discomfort (and gas) for some people, but it does. Maybe have him try a no red meat (which means mammals, by the way - beef, pork (I miss mah bacon!!)) diet for a few days, see if that makes a difference. Good luck!
