12 yrs ago I was in a motorcycle accident and my ankle took the full impact of the 1979 Impala that hit me, My ankle was crushed. Luckily, a rod and screws saved my foot. The pain was awful for the first 6-8 mths. Then got better over time with therapy and exercise. Recently, the weather has caused pain, not nearly as bad as the first mths. but still unconfortable. Hope yours wasnt as bad as mine. Ouch!
That depends on how much you listen to your doctors and take of yourself, (what you eat, drink, etc.)
It will be sore on and off for several months, depending on your activity level.
I hope you heal fast.
Blessings
When they say no pressure for 3 whole months that means it's going to be painful for a good long while. You didn't break it, you shattered it, that's a whole other level of healing. good luck.
I feel the most important part of healing an injury is developing the muscles that support the injured area, where ever it is. Ask your doctor to give you some physical therapy for the leg, calf and foot. This will not be easy but it will help to increase blood flow, strengthen supporting joints and stimulate the injury to heal.
With luck, it should come around in 6 months or so. Or it may never be right again. My Achilles did recover, but my knee never will.
My ankle was twisted backwards in an ATV accident and I was off pain pills in a week. Three months seems excessively long. Have you broached this with your doc? My memory is fading but I thought I was in a walking cast by the three month point too. Every break has its own characteristics though (I am guessing here but it makes sense to me).
Now, after about a year the pain did return but that was due to problems with the hardware and a second surgery to take out the plates and screws fixed that.
