Blood donation?

Question:
Why can't gay men donate blood? Straight men and women, bisexual men and women and lesbian women can all get HIV/AIDS also. It makes no sense to single out gay men any more. Besides all that, the screening is so good that any contaminated blood is discarded anyway. So why the discrimination?

Answers:
I have no idea, thats a very good question. Leave it up to conservative lobbyists to think of such a law. Thats discrimination and shouldn't be stood for.
nobody should donate blood. that should be illegal for everyone. blood transfusions cause death.
Non-tattooed people can get hep C, too. Doesn't mean that they should take blood from a higher risk group. It's just policy, and they don't want to waste resources in taking bad blood, or accidentally give bad blood to a patient. It's their policy, nothing you can change.
The fact that homosexual men have a life expectancy of thirty three years is a start. Gay men are also very likely to contract HIV. Bisexual men are in the same boat. The screening is not that great and HIV doesn't show up in the test for several months.

I can't donate blood because I've been too many places and have had too many vaccinations. I'm a Malaria risk and have get vaccines too often.

My grandmother had Typhoid fever 65 years ago which disqualifies her.
