Ankle injury?
Question:
Answers:
R. rest
I. ice
C. compression
E. elevation
I broke my ankle playing soccer a few months ago, but people thought it was a sprain..so that is how you treat it.
You need to let it rest. It is really hard when you want to play, but that's the best medicine for it. Elevate it and put ice on it too to keep the swelling down. Wearing a brace all the time will help you greatly, even though your ankle feels fine afterwards. Doctors says even after a year or later after an injury occurs should you still wear a brace to avoid further injury.
Once your swelling is gone...I would strap my ankle when I intend to run or practice ball...It would make it a lot safer...
also prevent injury again....
I am a high school coach and trained in injuries. Ice and elevation is the best thing for the swelling. asprin or a pain releaver helps with the pain.
If it is a persistant problem that you continue to twist your ankle you need to invest in a good ankle brace like Active Ankle. They are worth the investment!
This type of brace will not stretch like lace up braces tend to do when they are washed or heavily sweated in.
