Gulping down ice water after vigorous activity?

Question:
Is there any scienctific prove to show that gulping down ice water (esp after vigorous activity) is bad for health?

Answers:
You can get water intoxication if you drink lots of water too quickly and continue to sweat it off over a long period. This can cause an imbalance in electrolytes and create a potentially lethal outcome.

There have been quite a few cases of long distances runners dying from this, because they keep sweating off all their body's salt, then don't replace it with anything but water. This is why Gatorade is really good to use instead - it doesn't suffer from this problem.

If you're just gulping down water and not doing it over a long period of time, though, you're not taking much risk.. it's best to drink water slowly when you're breathing heavily, though, so you don't puke it up. hehe :D
The quickly swallowing cold water can stimulate the vagal nerve which can cause a sudden, rapid decrease in your pulse rate.
