How do I solve a really bad constipation problem?


Question:
I can go for a whole week or more before I use the restroom. Its been the second week like this & so I've used laxitive pills at the end of the week because I can't take it anymore. I get sick with canker sores in my mouth & swollen throat if I don't use the restroom.

I usually use the restroom every 3 or 4 days. Its become a whole week or more. help? Is that a sign of pregnancy? My period is off too.

I have no health insurance -- any advice would help. Thanks.

High fiber diet, good proteins (fish, chicken breast, red meat with little fat) and tons of water. It is very important that u eat vegetables. The best anticonstipation vegetable ever is spinach, the body takes all the good proteins and antioxidants from it and the fiber cleanses your system. Actually, when you eat spinach, it kinda comes out like it came in, so chew properly. Same thing happens with corn. But don't worry, you can have a little fun eating this boring food. Dress them up with spices and dressings, cook your spinach all the way tru or steam it if you have a steamer, it keeps the goodness in the leaf not in the water. Fruits too are awesome for fiber. Oranges, watermelon, strawberries, blue berries etc etc. I like watermelon specially because it's all water and fiber, and you can have loads of it without remorse. Also, try excersising more, doing some cardio, some pilates, swimming, aerobics, lifting weights; all these things are great to keep not only your appearance great, but inside your body feels better and works like it should. Also, if you are a little too worried about being pregnant, then go to your doctor, or take a home pregnancy test. Oh, i forgot you have no insurance... well, search for free clinics in your area and hope for the best. Wish you well

Eat things with fiber and fruit, that's the first thing. Then I suggest that you get something at the pharmacy. You are lucky, it just went from being a perscription drug to an over the counter drug. It's called Miralax. I have a very bad problem myself and 3 of my doctors all suggested that I take this. I went on it when it was persciption only and am glad that now I can get it over the counter. It is not a senna based laxative, you will not become addicted to it, you will not have to continue to use it, but once you do and you see how great it is you will be thanking me, and my slew of top NYC physicians.
eat raisins
1 quart of prune juice , but drink it in mid afternoon because if you do it later you will be up all night pooping.
I would prunes, apples or bananas and drink plenty of water.
You just don't need fiber in your diet, but you need something well balanced. Remember that yogurt commercial that mentioned something about a GI tract? Well that comes into play here. There are important bacteria that also help aid digestion so try eating that special yogurt or any everyday. With a good diet (try eating a little bit more bread) and the yogurt, it could improve your digestive system a bit more.
i agree with lochmessy use miralax that is the medication the use to proscribe for you to take before a colonscopy to copletly clear you out mirlax is now over the counter it works very well but is a tad expensive but it works very well try it
A vegetarian diet would help.

Red meat really clogs up the system. White meat is not quite as bad but fish is much better than chicken. Eggs also clog up the system but nowhere near as much as red meat which is one of the main causes of colon or bowel cancer.
miralax does work well, try benefiber, or store brand fiber pills and powders they works well and are cheaper. if you think you may be pregnant go to a free clinic or buy the test yourself.
