Horrible cramps?
Question:
Does anyone know of anything that can help me until I can get to my doctor to see what's up with the horrible cramps? They're getting to the point where I'm sick to my stomach with pain and I can barely feel my right leg.
Answers:
Take it from the queen of bad cramps (that would be me, lol), cramps can sometimes really knock you down, and then kick you while your down, right in the stomach, lol.
Anyways, here's what works for me, nothing else does:
1.) Avoid chocolate, caffeine, and high salt foods while on your period no matter how bad you crave them
2.) Drink lots of milk which on your period
3.) Take a calcium supplement a week before your period, during your period, and the week following your period
4.) Get a king sized heating pad, and put it on the high setting, stick it over the area that is painful, lay flat on your back, turn the lights off, and the t.v. off, listen to soothing music or just lay quiet (the more peaceful the better)
5.) Pick up some Pamprin Multi Symptom (note, it has to be the multi symptom, not the extra strength). The multi symptom formula has a diuretic (to get rid of the bloated feeling, an antihistamine (also helps get rid of the bloated feeling), and a pain reliever (Tylenol). Take 2 every 4 to 6 hours as needed. Repeat the dose as soon as 4 hours goes by to prevent the cramps from reaching full strength again.
6.) Instead of Pamprin Multi Symptom you can also take 2 Excedrin Back And Body, the combination of Tylenol, Aspirin, and Calcium really seems to wipe out cramps
7.) Take a hot bath, stretch your legs out in the tub, and then lean forward so that your front side is emerged in the water. For some reason this position helps. Make the water as hot as you can stand it.
8.) Try and do a little bit of exercise, no matter how much you don't want to.
Good luck to you, I hope you find relief soon.
If you are having severe cramps every day of your period that seem to intensify, talk to your doctor. He/she may have some other ideas for you, or you may have a more serious underlying problem causing the cramps.
If you have extremely heavy flow while you are cramping it could be endamitriosis <sp> which is the hardening of the uterine walls.this is NOT a diagnosis but you need to get to the doctor Yesterday!! in the meantime did you put the heating pad on your belly or in the small of your back? most times we put it on our bellies...try putting it under the small of your back...other than that just PLEASE get to your doctor soon. Brightest Blessings...
