Why can't we sleep with our eyes open?
Question:
Answers:
Actually we can! Check this out:
"Human beings can rest in any number of ways, and some can even sleep with their eyes open, as can many mammals and birds (known as lagophthalmos). The most effective way to rest with your eyes open is awareness meditation or a derivative of the many awareness meditative techniques, which are relaxing and good for you, but do not correspond to the same thing as being asleep. Some individuals, especially children, can and do truly sleep with their eyes open, but this is considered a symptom of a sleep-related problem, and not a good thing."
and check out the website below. Hope this helps :)
Some people do sleep with their eyes open but I cant do that, not very relaxing and sleeping are suppose to refresh, not tire you out more
some people can sleep with their eyes open but others are limited to that ability.although our sources are limited we are special because everybody is specail in their own way!
:)) Well, some people sleep with their eyes open, but not to start of with. My sister sleeps with her eyes open, but when she goes to bed, naturally, she shuts her eyes until she is asleep. After wards she can't control much anymore. But I know that's not what you asked. Also, I don't know the answer to your question, sorry :) I'll look forward to see what other people say - find out the answer, as well :))
almost everyone on my mother's side of the family does including myself and my son. most people can't because the shape of the muscles around the eyes makes it "closed" at redt for protection. all of us in my family who sleep with eyes open ranging from just a slit to looking like a crpse suffer some sort of eye problem or frequent pink eye.
note: most of us fall asleep without our eyes fully closing, often our pupils rollback and only the white is seen for those of us with partial opening.
apprently i do it sometimes, not completely open but not completely shut.
I guess the reason we close them is because they need to rest just like the rest of our body!
Most people do initially fall asleep with their eyes shut, but it is possible for them to open at some point during sleep. The only bad thing that can result from it is that since people don't blink while they sleep, their eyes can get very dry over the course of the night.
