Question:

Answers:
They can be caused by numerous things.

~Dehydration - drink more!
~Calcium or potassium deficiency

I started getting them out of the blue recently and those were the top two things I was told.

I started drinking more and added more calcium and they have subsided.

Give it a try.
Leg cramps can be caused by a few different things. First, an unusual amount of exercise you're not used to. I remember in college having to walk up three flights of stairs to get to my major office. Boy, did I get cramps! Or they can be caused by loss of electrolytes by sweating, like when it's really hot. They can be caused by a pinched nerve in the spine. And they can be caused by poor circulation, usually in diabetics or people with heart disease.

The ways of preventing them vary from cause to cause. Some people swear by quinine pills or tonic water before bedtime. If you are in an environment where you sweat a lot, try some Gatorade or similar drink when you finish. If it's from a back problem, there are some exercises you can do to help the back. If it's from poor circulation, you need to see a doctor.
