How do i stabilize a thumb sprain?

Question:
i can move my thumb minimally but carrying weight is painful. the pain radiates into my wrist. i need to support it cuz i have lots of work to do tonight. i'll check with a doc in the morning.

Answers:
Can you (or have someone help you) use medical tape to tape it to the index finger? That, or do you have some kind of cardboard that you can put against your thumb and wrap an ace bandage around it from the top of the thumb to the wrist?

It's harder to wrap a thumb than a finger or toe.
My guess would be to wrap your wrist along w/ the thumb in an ace bandage. it will minimize the pain and stabilize the thumb.
