I have a huge chiggar bite!! HELP!?

Question:

Ok it is about 2 and a half inches in diameter, and it kinda itches but it is swollen, i got it 2 days ago and it hasnt gone away or anything, it hasnt gotten smaller or larger, i put ice on it last night but that didnt help, all today i put clear nail polish on it and i made it really thick so it wouldnt get any air!! is there anything else i can do?? my mom has some steroid cream would that help?

There is on over the counter medication called chigger rid. Any pharmacy will have it. If you have been scratching at it (and how can you not?) the medicine will burn when you put it on. Go with it. It will kill the chigger and once that is accomplished, an anti-itch cream will help keep the itching down. Darn little critters release toxins when they die and itch even after they are dead.

you gotta smother the chigger bite which is why you put the nail polish on it...now leave it alone...it will go away in time..if it gets bigger or starts to turn red on parts that weren't originally then you should have it looked at by a Dr.

An old friend of mine his dad used to get them. he just dug them out with a knife.

put a cortizone cream on it. there are many brands you can find at grocery stores, walmart, kmart, target or any pharmacy.
Cortizone cream will help the itch.
wash the area with soap and water -- don't scrub! and apply the cream to dry, clean skin,and leave it alone!

are u sur that's what it is? 2 1/2 " seems a bit big you must of been scratching. have you taken benadryl orally? if not try that and some tylenol or motrin for swelling

don't think the cream will help much due to the nail polish may dissolve it or break topical seal w/ oily base
