Did you see the spider? If the spider was big and black with a thick body or big and brown with a thick body, chances are it was a poisonous spider (brown recluse or black widow). Everyone reacts differently to poisonous spider bites. Some people get a simple little bump that itches. Other people, like myself, get a bump, and swell up, and need major medication just to keep breathing normally. The best way to know if you were bitten is to take a cold shower, let water run all over your body. Then, dry off every inch of your body, generally if you have a bite, the cold water will "bring it to surface" and you will notice the itching. If you know it was a poisonous spider that bit you don't put anything on it and get to a doctor or emergency room as soon as possible. I made the mistake of putting hydrocortisone on a black widow bite, and got yelled at when I arrived at the emergency room for doing so. You can take Benadryl to keep your throat from closing in until you get to the e.r.
For most people, it would at the very least form a small bump and start itching immediately.
Yes, if you get bit by a poisonous spider you will know it. When I was at Ft Jackson, SC some guy got bit 3 times by a brown recluse spider and his arm swole up to the size of a watermelon... Thats not an exaggeration either its bad stuff
