After an im injection of 1cc it left redness its been a week now, should I see a doc?

Question:
there was subcutaneous swelling but its gone down, now there is redness about 4 inches across the deltoid at the injection site. its been 7 days now...and other than the swelling going down the redness is still there. should I be worried...what is it? should I see a doctor? its not painful...just red...itchy at times.

Answers:
Some medications will cause a localized inflammation, so that may be what is occuring now. You didn't say what was injected so it's hard to answer completely.
Have you tried putting a cold cloth or covered ice on it a couple times a day? Heat may cause redness/itching to be worse, so hot showers and the high temps outside may also affect it. Are you exercizing the arm so the medication is absorbed?
If it's not swollen, if the redness seems to be fading or diminishing, if there is no streak or weakness or pain or abscess, it's probably just a localized reaction to the medication.
If you're worried, call the doc office and ask if you can stop in just so they can look at it.
