Do you have to be a jock to be a athletic trainer?
Question:
Answers:
Of course you can. There is no reason at all why you can't as long as you go to school. Talk to the trainer and maybe you can be an assistant or something to see if you like it. I know many people who have done that.
You can't ask anyone but yourself if you would like it. I'm assuming you are in high school?
Discuss this with your parents, your mentor, and your high school guidance counselor - a lot of students don't take advantage of the resources available to them and later regret it.
You do not have to be a "jock" to be an athletic trainer. If you like helping people then this job would be good for you. Also, sports is not the only area athletic trainers work in. If you want more information you can look on www.nata.org and find out all kinds of interesting information about the profession. If that is not enough e-mail the NATA with your questions and someone will get back to you.
Hope this helps you,

You do not have to be a jock to be an athletic trainer. You do have to go to college and get a degree in something related to the field of athletics (your high school guidance counselor can help you with that). To be licensed as an athletic trainer you have to pass a test following your college graduation. Sounds like you'd make a GREAT athletic trainer.
