Injured basketball player needs help!?
Question:
Answers:
First sorry about your injury that sucks. 2nd there is no "I" in "Team". I think your teammates will understand your health is more important than a game because without your health you won't be playing period! 3rd all injurys require lots of rest trying to go back to the game too soon will possibly cause more damage than good!!Go see a trained medical docter that specializes in that type of injury &get second oppinion get corrective surgery if needed!!! Once on the road to recovery take it slow Do not rush it! The game and your teammates will still be there when you fully recover! Basketball has been around for a long time I don't think the world will stop spinning if you don't get back right away or if at all! If your injury does not allow you to return to basketball then enjoy what memories you have made and that you were able to play such an awesome game. You could still be part of basketball behind the scenes for example:coaching being a physical theripst doing the scoretable etc. Good luck!
First, the person you really need to see to discuss this with is an orthopedic surgeon- not a personal trainer. If you damaged ligaments and dislocated your knee, it's going to take more than a week for all of it to heal. You should still be wearing that knee brace, because the joint needs the support. If you do not allow the joint to heal, your problems will only get worse. Eventually you could be looking at surgery to correct things, and from then on your knee will never be the same again. It ordinarily takes 6-8 weeks in the splint for the ligaments to heal, and during that time you should not be playing at all. You probably shouldn't be doing the exercises either, until you are cleared by the doctor. Your patella can dislocate again, and each time it does, it will do more damage to the ACL ligament. You could end up with a tear, and that means surgery. If the patella keeps dislocating, the ligaments can become so stretched the entire knee becomes unstable, even for walking. As much as you want to be part of your team, I'm afraid it's more important for you and your knee to sit on the sidelines. If you give the knee time to heal, you can be playing again in a few months. If you don't, you could end up out of the game permanently. So if you haven't been to see an orthopedic surgeon yet, you need to. Get a professional exam and opinion.
