Can someone still walk while they have a cast on their foot?

Question:
So last week my boyfriend fractured his ankle. As a result of that he now has a cast on his left foot. A couple of days later he stated walking with both his legs but not putting too much pressure on his fractured one.

Is it ok for him to walk on it? Supposedly the doctor told him it was ok to walk on it after a couple of days. I just want to make sure. Maybe he heard wrong and by walking on it he is making his fracture worse. Someone please answer :(

Answers:
There are some very specific fractures of the foot/ankle where it's OK to walk on it early as long as the cast is in place. There are a good many other fractures of the foot/ankle, however, where it is DEFINITELY not OK to walk on it early.

If you have any doubt, have your boyfriend call his doctor to doublecheck.
Depends on the kind of cast they put on. They have casts where you really can't walk without crutches and they also have walking casts!
if he was smart, he'd stay off that foot until he's SURE. Nothing like having a malformed ankle because he was afraid to ask for clarification. if his doc gave him crutches, he should USE those crutches, if he got a cane, then he should use that. bottom line, if it hurts to walk on, don't walk on it. funny thibout pain.it's the body's way of telling you that something's NOT RIGHT!!!
