Cartilage piercing?

Question:
do they hurt?

i've searched on google and I got very mixed results.
Some say that it's painless, you cant feel anything,
Some say that you have a little pinch of a pain, (like the earlobe)
Some say it hurts,
Some say it HURTS LIKE A MOFO.

so idk which to believe =S

Answers:
It hurts very much. I've had two cartilage piercings done, one with a needle, the other with a gun. Never, ever, ever get it done with a gun. The one done with the gun never healed properly and never stopped hurting, until I took the stud out and let it heal. I left it in for around six months too. The one I had done with the needle, however, healed faster and hurt a lot less in the long run. It still hurt a lot initially, though, and I couldn't sleep on that side of my head for a few weeks. It ended up healing a lot better than the first one, though.
pain is relative, which is why you will find experiences at both ends of the range for every piercing it's possible to have.

everybody's pain threshold is different, so there is no 'yes' or 'no' answer to your question except to say that piercing by it's very nature will always hurt to some degree because you're having a needle pushed through your skin.

but speaking from the personal experience of having had probably over 50 piercings in the past ten years i'd say it's at the bottom of the scale regarding pain - nipples and septums tend to be the ones i have to think about twice.

if it bothers you that much, just do everything you can to get some pain relief beforehand to minimise how much it'll hurt.
