Is it bad to mix alcohol with morphine? How dangerous (is it?) ? On a scale of one to ten and why?
Question:
Answers:
NO amount of alcohol is safe with morphine. Both alcohol and morphine depress the Central Nervous System, and a combination of the two can be fatal.
sorry hun, but no amount is safe. Its very dangerous, could even be dibilitating and cause you to be immobile for a while or start vomitting. On a scale of 1-10, I would go with a 9 or 10. Good luck and God Bless
Yes, it is bad. On a scale of one to ten with ten being the worst it is a ten plus. Morphine lowers respirations and mixed with alcohol puts a person at extreme risk for respiratory distress. Also, a person may get away with it one time, many times, or no times so do not think if it was okay before that means it is okay.
It causes you to stop breathing. It can cause brain damage and death.
Yes, its dangerous to mix the two.
Both suppress your system...to slow it down.
One is safe, ten is dangerous.
This is a ten, if done in toxic levels, can shut the body down.
Like in fatal.
Toxic levels vary for each individual, size, weight, blah, blah.
Chances are good the doc would not give morphine if knew
she was drinking with it.
Maybe talk to her about your concerns. See if she will
go back to doc, she might need more meds, and is just
self-medicating ...maybe if given right dose, for her
situation, she would knock off the drinking .
Just an idea.
I'd say on a scale of 1-10 from everything I have read and heard about mixing drugs and alcohol, it can be a fatal combo. There is something else in your question that intrigues me. You mention that your mom "sneaks" alcohol. This set off some specific read flags with me. I am the wife of an alcoholic and know all to well about the "sneaking" of alcohol. Is it possible that your mother is an alcoholic? I appologize for the personal question. I just wanted to point out that if this is a factor, stopping the drinking could be far more complicated. I would probably speak to her about it, a doctor, or anyone that you think might be able to convey to her how dangerous this issue is (mixing drugs and alcohol). If you suspect that she is an alcoholic; I have a support group for friends and families of alcoholics that you are welcome to visit. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/afa...
