Muscle pains in neck, shoulders, and upper back?
Question:
thanks!
Answers:
alternating ice and heat 10-15 minutes each for about an hour is typical therapy, ice reduces the inflammation and heat increases circulation. Some people don't like ice, but heat alone may actually worsen the inflammation. An anti inflammatory like ibuprofen will help. take it with food it will be less likely to aggravate your stomach.
Chances are you have aggravated the muscles with poor ergonomics and/or posture. What do you do for work and how does that fit into the equation? If you have to sit and work for hours hunched over at a computer, sometimes it's just a matter of adjusting your seat or monitor height and getting up for an hourly stretch so you don't get stiff. Check with your employer they may have an ergonomics specialist on board.
If you do decide to see a Dr, go see an Osteopath that does manual manipulation, (DO rather than MD) they are far better at working with the body as a structure, rather than just addressing symptoms with medication and not much else.
wish I could help...I'm in some severe pain myself so I'm going to be watching this question for some answers...You can try Motrin or Tylenol...I've tried them as well as lortab the ER doc gave me and nothing seems to work for me.the heat is only minimally helping.good luck and let me know what you come up with!
