Is there a 'pill' one can take to prevent ear pressure on a plane or do earplugs work best?

Question:

Answers:
Earplugs help tremendously to stop the pressure on the ears. I don't know Of any pill that's going to stop the pressure.
Ask your medical doctor what would help you.
Actually I take benadryl or any allergy pill, it helps dry up the fluid behind the ears. Works for me! I had to try something, the pain for me was sometimes unbearable! Good luck!
The reason ears plug during take off and landing is the pressure changes associated with altitude differences. This will cause the eustacian tubes to fail to open and equalize the pressure behind the eardrum. Chewing gum is really the best way to manage it. I've never heard that earplugs will prevent it.
I've never heard of a pill that does this. Good old fashioned gum chewing during take offs and landings always works for me.
