Had Tennis Elbow, Now Arm is Very Hot & Swollen?
Question:
Anyway I pretty much ignored it, got on with life...Now (a week later) my forearm is extremely HOTand SWOLLEN (mainly the large muscle between elbow & wrist) and keeps going 'dead' (wrist too) and looks a little bruised (not external bruising from any kind of trauma) on inside forearm.
Not going back to physio! (just recovered from knee surgery) so looking for some advice or just hearing from anyone who has had anything similar. Thanks

I recommend you place an ice pack on the swollen area for fifteen minutes, several times a day. it's possible that you have a pinched nerve causing the area to go dead. Advil liquid capsules work very good on pain. They would help with the inflammation.
if you don't feel better after a few days see your medical doctor.
Well, the four cardinal signs of inflammation are redness, heath, swelling, and pain. And tennis elbow is hard to get rid of. If I have any small muscle inflammation, I take a couple of ibuprofen (advil) and that usually works for me. You could try that and see if it works. If it lasts too much longer or gets any worse, you may have to break down and go back to the doctor.
You need to see a doctor as soon as possible. Whatever the cause of the redness and swelling (and I'm not ready to commit to the tennis elbow diagnosis for it) the fact that your arm is going dead could mean that the swelling is putting too much pressure on the nerves and blood vessels in the area, something called compartmental syndrome. It needs to be treated ASAP to avoid permanent damage. The ice pack suggestion until you get to the doctor is probably a good idea, as would be elevation of the arm.
