Wake up early and exercise each morning, take a soothing bath right before you hit the sack, then read a book or magazine until your eyes can't stay open any longer.

I also have insomnia! But I just don't sleep the night before..so I can fall asleep early the next night. haha..
maybe you shouldn't do it..it will totally ruin your sleep schedule!
Meditate (basically, clearing your mind and thinking of nothing in particular). Breath deeply and calmly. (Not too deeply, as if you're about to hold your breath -- just deeply enough that you have to work a little more than usual in breathing.) If you do this, then you will get more rest even if you can't fall asleep faster.
Buy really comfortable pajamas! (This works for me all the time.)
If noise is a problem, wear earplugs. They will take a few days to get used to, though. Make your room as dark and quiet as possible (unless you are scared of the dark, in that case, use a soft nightlight, not a bright one). Is your pillow comfortable enough? Fluff it up every day to keep it comfy. Make sure your sheets are always clean.
Try a few different positions of sleeping (on your stomach, back, sides, etc). Do you know which position you sleep the best in?
I like to hold something while I'm sleeping (another pillow, or a large stuffed animal). This gives my shoulders better posture and is more comfortable, too.
Sleep at around the same time and wake up around the same time every morning. Having regular and good sleeping habits will help you sleep more deeply and get more rest.
try deep breathing.lie on ur back and concentrate on ur breathing. dont keep any distracting device near you during that time.. it will help e ur relax better and sooth ur senses

Do some hard work in the day like cleaning the rooms in ur house, helping the family members and doing some thing for which u do not get monetaty benefit like assisting in the temples,churches etc for an hour.
Releasing all the grudges u may have had with ur known people.
Praying for a social cause etc.
Drinking a cup of hot/warm glass of milk before bed time.
