What is the big deal about buying meds online from another country if we can get them cheaper?
Question:
WHY DON'T THEY ARREST THE DOCTORS HERE IN THE US WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF UNSUSPECTING VICTIMS WHO ARE NOW ADDICTED TO VICODIN, OXYCONTIN, MORPHINE, AND METHADONE. DOCTORS ARE PRESCRIBING THESE PILLS KNOWING WHAT THEY ARE ABOUT, YET THEY GET AWAY WITH IT.

Answers:
mwha, I agree. I don't order controlled drugs and don't order form China or the Philippines. But, I do order drugs that are cheaper to buy from the U.K. than a co-payment would be.

maybe you should read about the fraud pills that are being sold in other countries. people die each year because people in china fill pill capsules with water and send them to the U.S. to make a profit. if you want to pay to take water in pill form, by all means, order your pills online. but quit dissing the doctors. unless you have a medical degree, you really don't know a damn thing about medicines.
sometimes when you order something from online (especially from another country) you do not know if the base and other ingredients in the medication are the same therefore can cause different, possibly dangerous side effects. i totally agree with you the drs over prescribing here. some will just give for any ache and pain - that is what tylenol and advil are for - we dont need all those heavy duty addicting drugs.
I guess you think you have found something great in these on line prescription dealers, I hope you never find out different, but I'm afraid that you soon will.
As far as docs writing prescriptions to patients that have to be written every month with no refills, aren't you kinda contradicting yourself when you complain that doctors should be arrested for not warning enough about people being addicted unknowingly? For one, that is the patients fault, if they don't care enough about what they put in their bodies to read the information that is provided with EVERY prescription then no one else should accept responsibility for them. However, I have to say that I have never been prescribed an addictive medication where the doctor or at least a nurse hasn't discussed the effects in detail with me, and I am not going to "fancy" doctors offices.
Finally, I am one of those patients that you were talking about that has to pick up a prescription for my medication once a month, and I have never been charged for an office visit, not one time.
I'm not saying that I am happy with drug prices or even the fact that many people are becoming addicted to prescription medication, but an individual is responsible for their own addiction, theres just no two ways about that. So lets save the bashing for the prescription prices, that way we are pickin our battles and are more likely to get somewhere.
Some of the medications in other countries are not held to the same standards as medications here in the United States, and therefor the government sees them as "risky" for Americans to take. Unfortunately there are legitimate medications in foreign countries, like Canada, and American's pay higher prices because the drug manufacturer's have been ruling the market for years and years and years. There are also countries that make fake medications and sell them on the Internet. Dateline NBC just did a whole story about these fake medicines, some of which even end up being sold in United States pharmacies.
Bottomline, doctors are going to keep prescribing medications for everything they can think of until their is a cure for every disease out there. Yes, drugs are cheaper in other countries, but they are not always safer.
