I've had my cornea scratched twice. It feels like someone is taking sandpaper across your eyeball. It gave me agonizing headaches. I went to the emergency room and there they numbed my eye and used a black light and found the scratch. I know what he's goin' through and it sucks. Don't wait any longer....Get up and go now. As for the shingles.I agree with the first response. Never heard of shingles in the head. Ask his doctor if he has ever heard of "foot in the @$$" Good Luck.
what kind of doc has he seen? if you haven't already, take him to an opthamologigst. check to see if there is a specialized eye clinic in your area. the scratched cornea could cause the infection but this sounds severe.i've never heard of shingles in the head. that has to be one for the books. if you can't find the right doc, go to the hospital. there are opthamologists on call. i really hope he gets better. good luck
It is possible to get shingles in the eye - the condition is called herpes zoster opthalmicus. More precisely, what happens is that you get shingles in the dermatome that contains the eye and so the eye can get the infection as well. I suppose a reasonable and competent doctor could misdiagnose it as a corneal abrasion (scratched cornea) when it was in its early stages.
At any rate, if herpes zoster opthalmicus is being considered, your husband needs to be seen by an opthalmologist right away - hopefully, one of those three doctors he's seen so far is one.
Good luck!
