Numb/broken toe or foot?

Question:
the tip of my big toe has just recently began to feel numb/tingly...i will be going to the doctors as soon as i can but i was wondering if anyone can tell me what this could mean? do you think either my big toe or foot could be broken?

yesterday i was running up the stairs and i missed a stair so only my big toe landed on it, putting my whole body weight on that one toe causing it to bend back. i had a sharp pain in it and afterward there were more random sharp pains and hurt more when i put pressure on it. about 10 minutes later it began to swell. today it is a little swollen and hurts right where my big toe and my foot meet. i cant walk on it without more sharp pains.

Answers:
you might have broken your toe, or you could have fractured the sesamoid bones at the joint of your big toe and foot. You also have a joint there, so you may have a sprain or strained toe with no break.

Either way, an x-ray and a doctor will know.
