Collateral Ligament sprain... i think help.?
Question:
Answers:
Do you remember having a specific injury to the ligament...the lateral collateral ligament rarely just starts hurting from regular use. More likely you are experiencing illiotibial (IT) band tendinitis. Or possibly you have a tear in the meniscus. My suggestion is to try and stretch out the gluteal muscles in your butt (if you dont know any stretches look in google images) If that doesnt seem to take the pain away then take yourself to see an orthopedic doctor and have an exam done on the knee.
Does your soccer coach or teacher know this? Please talk to him/her.
The lateral collateral ligament is on the outside of your knee. The medial collateral ligament is on the inside of your knee.
Use RICE to treat injuries:
Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

make sure your coach knows about your knee ligament thing. (:
but uhm.
rest it,
ice it,
add some sort of compression like an ace bandage or something,
and then elevate it.
(feel better!)
